【摘要】:Theflatwiseflexuralimpacttestisatestinwhichthekineticenergylostbyamovingpendulumduringimpactisusedtodeterminetheenergytobreakordeformatestspecimen.ThestandardIzodtestapparatusasdescribedinTestMethodD256isretrofittedwithclampingjaws,whichholdthetestspecimensuchthattheflatfaceofthespecimenisstruckbythependulumduringatest.ThependulumshallbeastandardIzodpendulumasdescribedinTestMethodD256.Itshallbecapableofdeliveringanenergyof2.71x00B1;0.14J(2.00x00B1;0.10ft.-lbf).Exceptasdetailedin10.5,thisbasicpendulumshallbeusedwithallspecimensthatextractlessthan85%oftheavailableenergy.Higherenergypendulumsorabasicpendulumtowhichweightsareaddedtoincreaseitsavailableenergyshallbeusedwithspecimensthatrequiremoreenergytobreak.Aseriesofenergylevelssuchthateachhastwicetheenergyofthenextlighteronewillbefoundconvenient.Thestrikingnoseofthependulumshallcontactoneoftheflatfacesofthespecimenataspecifieddistanceabovetheclampedge.Theratioofthedistancebetweenthetopoftheclampandthecenterlineoftheroundedstrikingedgetothespecimenthicknessshallbe2.5x00B1;0.1.Thetypeoffailureofeachspecimentestedshallbeassignedoneofthefollowingcategories:CompleteBreak(C)Abreakinwhichthespecimenisseparatedintotwoormorepieces.HingeBreak(H)Anearlycompletebreakinwhichthereislittleornospringbackwhenthefreeendisbentordisplaced.PartialBreak(P)Anincompletebreakinwhichfractureextendsthroughatleast50%ofthespecimenthickness,andsuchthatthefreeendcanbebentwithrelativelylittleeffortyethasconsiderablespringback.Nonbreak(N)Aresultwherethereisnofractureorthefractureextendslessthan50%ofthespecimenthickness.Thevalueofthisimpacttestistodeterminethechangeinimpactpropertiesthatmayresultfromamaterialhavingbeenexposedtooneoraseriesofenvironments,suchasweatheringatdifferentintervalsordifferentintensitieswhenthesedataarecomparedtoafilesampleexposedonlytothestandardlaboratoryenvironmentorotheragreeduponconditions.Theflatwiseimpactresistanceiscalculatedasenergyabsorbedperunitofcross-sectionalarea.Beforeproceedingwiththistestmethod,referenceshouldbemadetothespecificationofthematerialbeingtested.Anytestspecimenpreparation,conditioning,dimensions,and/ortestingparameterscoveredinthematerialspecificationshalltakeprecedenceoverthosementionedinthistestmethodexceptincaseswheretodosowouldconflictwiththepurposeforconductingtesting.Iftherearenomaterialspecifications,thenthedefaultconditionsapply.1.1TheresistanceofplasticstobreakagebyflexuralshockmaybedeterminedbytestmethodssuchasthosecontainedinTestMethodD256.Specimensusedinthosetestmethodsfeatureamillednotchtopromotebrittlefracture.Thetestspecimensarestruckbyapendulumwiththedepthdimensionparalleltothedirectionofpendulumswing.Thistestmethodisdifferentiatedfromtheothersbyitsapplicationtotheassessmentoftheaffectonimpactresistanceofchangesinthesurfaceofspecimensresultingfromweatheringorothere......
